AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments
|
 
|
|
sections thirty-two, thirty-nine, forty-three, fifty
|
 
|
|
and fifty-three of article one of the Code of
|
 
|
|
Public Local Laws, entitled " Allegany county,"
|
 
|
|
sub-title " City of Cumberland," as enacted by
|
 
|
|
the act of eighteen hundred and seventy-eight,
|
 
|
|
chapter four hundred and eighty-four, relating
|
 
|
|
to the charter of said city.
|
 
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
 
|
|
of Maryland, That sections thirty-two, thirty-nine,
|
 
|
|
forty-three, fifty and fifty-three of article one of
|
 
|
|
the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled " Alle-
|
 
|
|
gany county," sub-title " city of Cumberland," as
|
Repealed and
|
|
enacted by the act of eighteen hundred and sev-
|
re-enacted.
|
|
enty-eight, chapter four hundred and eighty-four,
|
 
|
|
relating to the charter of said city, be and are
|
 
|
|
hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows,
|
 
|
|
viz:
|
 
|
|
32. The inhabitants of the city of Cumberland,
|
 
|
|
residents thereof for one year previous to the
|
 
|
|
municipal election of said city, and qualified to
|

vote for members of the General Assembly, shall,
|
clerk.
|
|
on the third Monday of May, eighteen hundred and
|
 
|
|
eighty-two, and on the same day in every second
|
 
|
|
year thereafter, elect by ballot a person of known
|
 
|
|
integrity and capacity, to be city clerk; and such
|
 
|
|
person so to be elected shall, at the time of his
|
 
|
|
election, be a legal voter in said city; and it shall
|
 
|
|
be the duty of said city clerk to attend all meet-
|
 
|
|
ings of the City Council, keep a correct journal
|
 
|
|
of the proceedings of the same, and to enter on
|
 
|
|
said journal the yeas and nays upon the passage
of all ordinances or resolutions required by the
|

charter of said city to be passed by yeas and

|
|
nays, and also to enter upon said journal the yeas
|
 
|
|
and nays upon all other questions upon which the
|
 
|
|
vote is taken by yeas and nays, which vote shall
|
 
|
|
be so taken upon any question or motion on
|
 
|
|
demand of any member of said City Council. It
|
 
|
|
shall further be the duty of said city clerk to keep
|
 
|
