Chapter 275.

 

AN ACT to authorize and require the Board of

 

Public Works to sell the steamer Leila, now in

 

the employ of the State Fishery Force, and to

 

purchase or build two suitable tugs or propellers

 

to be used and employed in the place of the said

 

steamer, and to appoint suitable officers and men

 

for the command of said vessels.

 

WHEREAS the steamer Leila, of the State Fishery

 

Force, is so decayed that she is unseaworthy, and

 

after a careful examination it is found that said

 

steamer is not worth rebuilding, and will necessitate

an expenditure of from four to six thousand dollars

 

annually, to keep up necessary repairs, if continued

 

in the service, and as said steamer's entire plan,

 

model and hull are unsuited for the purpose for

 

which she is now employed —

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

 

of Maryland, That the State Board of Public

 

Works be and are hereby directed and requested to

 

purchase or build two suitable tugs or propellers to

 

be substituted for, and take the place of the steamer

said tugs or propellers, with their boilers, engines

 

and equipments complete for employment and use of

 

the State Fishery Force, shall not exceed twenty-

 

five thousand dollars.

 

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Board of

of said tugs or propellers, proceed to appoint some
