Chapter 217.

 

AN ACT to provide for the dissolution of the

 

Shelter for " Orphans of Colored Soldiers and

 

Friendless Children of Baltimore city," by au-

 

thorizing it to grant, convey and apply all its

 

property, or the proceeds thereof, to and for the

 

use of the " Shelter for Aged and Infirm Col-

 

ored Persons of Baltimore city."

 

WHEREAS by reason of the establishment cf a

 

colored orphan asylum, endowed by the will of

 

the late Johns Hopkins of Baltimore city, with

 

property amply sufficient for the maintenance and

 

training of orphans of colored soldiers and friend-

 

less children, the annual subscriptions, by which

 

alone the " Shelter for Orphans of Colored Sol-

 

diers and Friendless Children of Baltimore city"

was maintained have almost entirely ceased, and

 

the last mentioned corporation has become in-

 

capable of fulfilling the purposes for which it was

 

incorporated; and whereas it is therefor desirable

 

that the said last mentioned corporation should be

 

dissolved, and that its property, or the proceeds

 

thereof, should be transferred to the " Shelter for

 

Aged and Infirm Colored Persons of Baltimore

 

city," a corporation duly incorporated under the

 

General Laws of this State. Therefore —

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly

 

of Maryland, That the " Shelter for Orphans of

 

Colored Soldiers and Friendless Children of Bal-

 

timore city " be and it is hereby authorized and

 

empowered to sell and convey all or any part of
