AN ACT to repeal, amend and re-enact section
|
 
|
eight of the act of eighteen hundred and sixty-
|
 
|
four, chapter ninety-six, entitled "An Act to incor-
|
 
|
porate the Liberty and New Windsor Turnpike
|
 
|
Road Company in Frederick and Carroll counties,"
|
 
|
as amended by section three, chapter twenty-seven,
|
 
|
of the acts of eighteen hundred and sixty-eight,
|
 
|
and further amended by section three, chapter one
|
 
|
hundred and ninety-seven, of the acts of eighteen
|
 
|
hundred and seventy-two.

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
|
 
|
bly of Maryland, That section eight of the act of
|
 
|
eighteen hundred and sixty-four, chapter ninety-six,
|
 
|
as amended by the act of eighteen hundred and sixty-
|

eight, chapter twenty-seven, and further amended

re-enacted.

by act of eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chapter

one hundred and ninety-seven, be and the same is
|
 
|
hereby repealed, amended and re-enacted so as to
|
 
|
read as follows :
|
 
|
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That as soon as the
|
 
|
said company has completed three miles of said road
|

by making an artificial road of stone, the bed of

time to time a like distance may erect and fix such

stop any person riding, leading or driving any horses,

cattle, hogs, sheep, sulky, chaise, phaeton, coach, cart,

wagon, sleigh, sled or other carriage of pleasure or
|
 
|
burthen, from passing through the said gates or turn-
|
 
|
pikes until they shall have respectively paid the said
|
 
|
rates, tolls and duties, that is to say, for every space
|
 
|
of three miles in length of said ruad the following
|
 
|
sums of money, and so in proportion for any greater
|
 
|
or lesser distance, or for any greater or lesser number
