Maryland Railroad Company and the Union Rail-

 

road Company of Baltimore.

Chapter 161.

 

AN ACT to prevent stock running at large in the

 

fifth election district of Caroline county, and also

 

to repeal section eighty-two, eighty-three, eighty-

 

four and eighty-five of the Public Local Laws of

 

Caroline county, sub title " Fences," so far as they

 

relate to the fifth election district.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

 

bly of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for

 

stock of any kind to go at large without attendants

How operative

in the fifth election district of Caroline county, pro-

 

vided tin's act shall he adopted by a majority of the

 

qualified voters in said district in the manner here-

 

inafter prpvided.

 

SEC.2. And be it enacted, That it shall be lawful

 

for any person, and it shall be the duty of the con-

 

stables of said district, to take up any horse, mare

 

or gelding, mule, horned cattle, swine or other stock

 

which may be found going at large and without at-

 

tendants in said district, and the person or constables

Shall Impound

so taking up any such stock shall impound the same,

 

and if taken up by a constable, or said constable

 

being informed of the same, he shall give notice of

 

said impounding, by advertisement, in at least two

 

public places within said election district, describing

 

the stock so impounded, and he shall proceed to sell

said stock at public auction, for cash, after giving

auction.

ten days' notice from the time such stock was taken

 

up; provided, the owner shall have the return of

 

said stock on paying all the expenses of keeping of

 

the stock, and all other costs, including twenty-five
