AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section 7, add "and shall be concerned in no contract for
the labor of any of the inmates, or any manufacture carried
on in said House of Refugs."

Pending the consideration of said bill and amendments,
On motion by Mr. Stevens,

At 3.10 P. M., the Senate took a. recess until 4 o'clock P. M.

AFTERNOON SESSION

MONDAY, April 3rd, 1876.

The Senate met at 4 o'clock, P. M.
Present at the roll call the following Senators:
Messrs. President, Bannon, Brewer, Cooper, Dennis, Free-
man, Ford, Hepbroa, Humphreys, Joyce, Knight, Lawrence,
Lloyd, McCulloh, Stevens, Steiner, Suit, Walsh—18.

Mr. Stevens submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

April 3rd, 1876.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We respectfully request you to return to the Senate the
House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money for
the purchase of Campbell's Index.

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.
