Second. House bill entitled an Act to pay David R. Brown,
of Bait more, a sum of money due him,

With the following proposed amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Line 2, of preamble, strike out "ninety" and insert
fifty."

Section 1, line 3, strike out "ninety" and insert "fifty."

Section 1, line 4, after word "remitted" insert "and it be-
ing the extent of the State's interest therein."

Which were adopted.

Said bill as amended was then lead the second time.

Holllln. R. C. Hollyday, Secretary of State, appeared and de-
livered a communication f rorn the Executive.

Mr. Lloyd, from the Committee on Finance, (rules sus-
pended) reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal Article 78, of the Code
of Public General Laws, title "Refuge, House of" and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

Being upon its second reading.

Mr. (Stevens submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Sections, line 7, after the word "males" add, "Provided
that the Board of Directors shall make no rule which shall
be construed or applied as to exclude any minister of any de-
nomination at any time from visiting said Institution and
ministering to the spirital wants of any of the inmates there-
of who may desire such service."

Which was adopted.

Said bill as amended was then read the second time.
On motion by Mr. Brewer,

House bill entitled an Act for the protection of sheep hus-
bandry,

Was taken up and passed by yeas and nays as as follows:
