854 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 30,

Mr. Aydelotte, from Committee on Elections, submitted
the following

REPORT:

The undersigned Committee of Elections, to examine and
report upon the election and qualifications of the Members to
the Senate of Maryland, beg leave to report that they have
discharged the duty assigned to them by examining the re-
turns of the election held on the 2d day of November, in the
year 1875, in the several counties of the State, and in the
First and Second Legislative Districts of Baltimore city, and
have ascertained and report that the following Senators have
been duly elected as follows :

Anne Arundel county...............Michael Bannon,

Baltimore county.....................Edward D. Freeman,

Baltimore City, 1st Leg. Dis......John H. Cooper,

" " 3rd " " ......E. T. Joyce,

Carroll county.........................James Fenner Lee,

Frederick county.................... Lewis H. Steiner,

Howard connty........................Arthur P. Gorman,

Kent county...........................William T. Hepbron.

Queen Anne's county................Budd S. Ford,

Somerst county........................James U. Dennis,

Washington county..................David H. Newcomer,

Wicomico county.....................Thomas Humphreys.

All of which is respectfuly submitted by order of the Com-
mittee.

Which was read and adopted.

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the unfinished
business, being

The Report and Resolution submitted by the Committee on
Elections, with the Resolutions offered as a substitute by Mr.
Hepbron,

The question being upon the Resolutions submitted by Mr.
Hepbron,

Mr. Gorman moved that the question be taken upon the
adoption of said Resolutions in numerical order.

Which was adopted.

The first Resolution being under consideration,

Mr. Gorman submitted the following amendment:

Add to the end of first Resolution,

"And that the seat is hereby declared vacant."

Which was adopted by yeas and nays as follows:
