Resolved, That the seat of the sitting Senator from Calvert
county, Nathaniel Duke, is hereby declared to be vacant.
By order of the Committee on Elections,

Pending the consideration of the report,

Mr. Dennis moved that said report and resolutions lie over,
and be made the special order of business for the Night Ses-
sion, Wednesday, March 29th, and that the Contestant and
Sitting Member be heard by the Senate.

Which was determined in the affirmative by yeas and nays
as follows:

AFFIRMATIVE.

Aydelotte, Knight,
Bannon, McCulIoh,
Brewer, Phelps,
Dennis, Stevens,
Getty, Walsh—12.

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Freeman, Newcomer,
Lee, Steiner,

Mudd,

Mr. Bannon, from Select Committee, reported favorably,
House bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act passed at the
January Session, 1872, chapter 254, entitled an Act to au-
thorize and empower the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel county to appropriate a sum of money to the capital
stock of the Annapolis and North Severn Bridge Company,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
With the following proposed amendments:

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Sec. 2, line 2, strike out the words "and directed."
Add to Sec. 7, ''Provided, that the County Commissioners
shall levy no more than $5,000 in any one year."
Which were adopted.

Said bill as amended, was then read the second time.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates appaared and deliv-
ered the following bills :

House bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of tnoney
to aid the High School established by Chrisfield District in
Somerset county, to be known hereafter as the Lankford
High School.

which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Finance.
