AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Add as Sec. 2. "And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time.

Mr. Freeman, from Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Baltimore county to pay Samuel R. Griffith his
per diem as Judge of the Orphans' Court of said county,
during his absence from the session of said Court, on account
of sickness.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Hepbron, from Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to prevent the sale of spiritu-
ous or fermented liquors within a distance of two and a half
miles of the fair grounds of the Kent County Agricultural
Society, on the days of the annual exhibitions of said society,
and to give said society full power to appoint a special police
during said exhibition.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Dennis, from Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorise Benjamin Lank-
ford to erect a gate across a county road in Somerset county.

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Steiner submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

March 24th. 1876.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message asking the return of Senate
bill entitled an Act to lay out and establish a new election
district in Frederick county, to be called "Lewistown Dis-
trict," and in reply state, that the said bill has not been re-
turned to the Senate since it was first sent to the House.

We send, however, an accurate copy of the bill, as ordered
to be engrossed, with the proper official endorsements of the
same.

Secretary.
