dent and Visitors of the Maryland Hospital, sometimes in
advance and nearly all in the year for which it is levied, so
that the institution was in receipt of maintenance for one hun-
dred and fourteen county and city patients, at two hundred
dollars each, making twenty-two thousand eight hundred
dollars, and sixty-four private patients paying each five dol-
lars per week, (some pay over five dollars per week,) making
sixteen thousand six hundred and forty dollars, being an an-

the ground to be taken care of and looked after, there were
employed seventy persons, whose aggregate salaries are
thirty-six thousand nine hundred and eighty-four dollars per

with one hundred and eighty patients for twenty thousand,
five hundred and twenty dollars and thirty-five cents ; in
1861 with two hundred and nine patients, for less than
twenty-two thousand, nine hundred and twenty dollars and
seventy-seven cents; in 1863, with one hundred and eighty-
five patients for twenty-one thousand, five hundred and for-
ty-five dollars and sixty-four cents, while at the Bay View
Asylum three hundred insane paupers are maintained at an
expense of ninety dollars each per annum,. Monta View
Asylum, near Frederick, ninety-four patients are maintained
at an expense of one hundred and seventy-five dollars each
per annum, and at Mount Hope with two hundred and eighty-
three patients, the expense is about the same as Maryland
