On motion by Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill to pay Michael P. Gorman and Richard A. Gaul t
a sum of money due them for services rendered as screwsmcn
in Tobacco Warehouse, Number Five, erroneously paid in the
Treasury.

Mr. Phelps moved that the orders submitted by him on
Jan'y 6th, in regard to the taxation of property in this State,
be referred to the Committee on Finance.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Walsh submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 19th, 1876.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
that the Committees on Public Buildings of the two Houses,
be authorized to act as a Joint Committee on Public Build-
ings.

By order,

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,
Secretary.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Mr. Hepbron, from the Joint Committee appointed under
Section 24, of Article 3 of the Constitution, submitted the
following

REPORT.

The Joint Committee appointed under Article 3, Section
24 of the Constitution, to whom was referred the following
order of the Senate:

Ordered, That the Committee required under 24th Section
of 3rd Article of the Constitution, when appointed, be in-
structed to inquire the cost of printing for the General
Assembly of Maryland since the session of 1865, and to re-
port in full thereupon,

Respectfully submit the following as the result of their
investigation:

By examination of the books of the Comptroller we find
that the contract for printing lor the Legislature of 1865 was
awarded to H. P. Bailey, and amounted in the aggregate,
(for 90 days) to the sum of.....................$45,006 09

For the Session of 1866, (30 days,) to Haverstack

& Longnecker, costing............................. 21,400 32
