The President announced the unfinished business to be the

Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the General Val-
uation and Assessment of Property in this State.

Mr. Gorman submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Sec. 17, line 20, after the word "reside," insert "except
goods and chattels permanently located in any city or county
of this State, which shall be valued and assessed in the city or
county in which they are so located.

Strike out Sec, 8, and insert

"Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That the Governor of the
State shall have power to remove at any time, for cause, any
assessor or assessors, or member or members of any Boards of
Control and Review, appointed under this Act, and to appoint
another person or other persons, duly qualified to perform
the duties of the said office or offices, in the place of the re-
