On motion by Mr. Steiner, it was

Ordered, That the Senator from Wicomico comity have
leave of absence from Saturday to Tuesday.

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act to protect the rights
of parties to suits at law, upon negotiable instruments,
where from any cause the same cannot be produced and
surrendered.

Also, by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore City Senators to in-
troduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 875, of Ar-
ticle 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Baltimore
City," sub-title "Taxes and Loans." and to re-enact the same.
with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Steiner,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay the claim of Joseph Groff.
On motion by Mr. Getty,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Getty, Ford and Lawrence
to introduee a bill to provide a new Election District in Gar-
rett county.

On motion by Mr. Bannon,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Bannon, Freeman and the
Senators from Baltimore city, to introduce a bill to regulate
the tolls on Light Street Bridge.
On motion by Mr. Knight,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Knight, Brewer and Joyce,

to introduce a bill entitled an Act to authorize the President

and Commissioners of the town of Elkton to issue bonds for

the purpose of raising money to build a Fire Engine House.

On motion by Mr. Ford,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Library, to
introduce a bill to regulate the purchase of Stationery for the
Senate, House of Delegates, Court of Appeals, and other De-
partments of the State.

Mr. Ford, from the Committee on the Library, reported
favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act, providing for a State subscrip-
tion to J. Thomas Scharf's History of Maryland.

Which was read the first time, and,
On motion by Mr. Ford,

Was referred to the Committee on Finance.
