The hour of one o'clock having arrived,

The Senators proceeded to deposit their ballots in the ballot
box, which was delivered to Messrs. Walsh and Steiner, who
conjointly with the Committee of the House of Delegates,
retired from the Senate Chamber to count the ballots.

Said Committee having performed their duty, returned
with the following:

REPORT.

The Committee appointed by the Senate and House of Dele-
gates to count the votes cast for Treasurer of Maryland, beg
leave to report that

The votes cast by the Senate were in number................ 26

The votes cast by the House of Delegates were in number. 73

Making in all............................................. 99

Of which number the Hon. Barnes Compton received 65
votes, and the Hon. George C. Merrick 32 votes, and there
were two blank ballots.

We therefore respectfully report that the Hon. Barnes
Compton, having received the largest number of votes, is re-
turned by the Committee as elected to the office of Treasurer
of Maryland.

ALBERT CONSTABLE,

H. CLAY NAILL,

On the part of the House.

Whereupon it was declared that the Hon. Barnes Compton
is duly elected Treasurer.

Mr Humphreys, from Select Committee, reported favora-
bly,

Senate Bill entitled an act to regulate the building of Mill
Dam's on streams where the public road crosses such stream,
and the keeping of the same in repair in Wicomico County.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Getty, from Select Committee, reported favorably,

Senate Bill entitled an act to change the dividing line be-
tween the Second and Fifth Election Districts in Garrett
County.

Which was read the first time.
