38 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 13,

the Speaker of the House of Delegates, of a Joint Com-
mittee, consisting of five members upon the part of the
Senate, and fire upon the part of the House of Delegates,
to be constituted a Committee on "the Centennial," to whom
shall be referred for consideration all matters appertaining
to the participation by the State in the celebration of the
one hundredth anniversary of American independence, which
Committee shall have leave to report by bill or otherwise.

The President has appointed on the p irt of the Senate
Mess.——————

Which was read and adopted.

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

At 1 o'clock P. M., the Senate went into Executive Ses-
sion.

At 1.10 P. M., the Senate resumed the consideration of
Legislative business.

Mr. Mudd submitted the following :

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourn on Friday, it stand
adjourned until Tuesday, the 18th inst., at 12 o'clock M.

Pending its consideration,

Mr. Phelps moved to amend by striking out "Tuesday"
and inserting "Monday."

Which was determined in the negative by yeas and nays,

as follows:
