tion, and a large number of others saying that they desired to
be pVesent when their tobacco was opened, and if the houses
were located down at Canton, on deep water, they would be
so far removed from their Commision Merchants that they
could not visit both and return to their homes on the same day;
we believe this latter class to have the best argument, and we
recommend the erection of said warehouses on the old location.

Yoar Committee farther report on the condition of the
State House and its surroundings; that a portion of the State-
House requires a new roof; that the Committee rooms are small,
'badly ventilated and not ample enough in accommodation, and
need remodeling and increasing, and your Committee recom-
mend the necessary additions and improvements.

The streets surronnding the State House and grounds, needs

-repairing and grading, and your Committee recommend an
appropriation for the purpose.

The only institution in which the State has an interest
is the Maryland Hospital at Spring Grove, which your Commit-
tee will make the subject of a separate Report.

nance.

Mr. Lee, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 115 of chap,
ter 343 of the Acts of 1874, relating to the City of Westmin-
ster, in Carroll county, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Walsh, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to authorize the County Com-
missioners of Harford county, to divide any of the election
districts in said county into election precincts, and to desig-
nate the places of holding elections therein.

With the following amendments :

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Amend title by striking out after the word "of," the words
"Harford County/' and insert the words "Harford and Tal-
bot Counties," and after the word "said,"' to strike out the
word "county," and insert "counties."

Sec. 1, line 2, strikeout the word "county" and insert the
morels "and Talbot Counties."
