citizens of Caroline county, praying the passage of an Act
prohibiting the use of nets, &c., in the waters of the Chop-
lank river.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Also,

The memorial of R. J. Jump, and 20 others, citizens of
Caroline county, ia relation to the weighing of grain.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.

Also,

The memorial of E. P. Steele, and 20 others, citizens of
Caroline county, in relation to Maryland Agricultural
College.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.

Also,

The memorial of George W. Spurry, and 20 others, citi-
zens of Caroline county, praying the passage of an Act to
allow the Clerk of the Circuit Court to enter confession of
judgment.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

The memorial of J. H. T. Hubbard, praying the passage
of an Act to protect fish in the Choptank river.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
On motion by Mr. Lawrence,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to extend the jurisdiction of Justices
of the Peace, to cases of petty larceny.
On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill, entitled an Act authorizing His Excellency, the
Governor, to apply to the President of the United States,
for the appointment of three Commissioners, to be detailed
for the surrey of the harbor of Baltimore city, and the adja-
