Also, by Mr. Lloyd,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to refund to the vestry of St.
Michael's Parish, Talbot county, a sum of money erroneously
paid into the Treasury.

On motion by Mr. Newcomer,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Newcomer, Freeman and
Duke, to introduce a bill relating to the Collecting of Taxes
in Washington county.

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Senators from Baltimore city to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 25, of Arti-
cle 4, of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "City of
Baltimore," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Also, By Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal sub Section 3, of
Sectiaa 37, and Section 93, of chapter 471, of the Acts of
the General Assembly of Maryland of 1868, relating to cor-
porations.

Also, by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill entitled an Act to add an additional
section to Article 16 of the Code of Public General Laws,
title "Chancery," relating to the sale of land heretofore used
as burying grounds.

Senate Joint Resolutions with reference to the State of
Louisiana,

Being upon their second reading,
On motion by Mr. Dennis,

Were ordered to lie over, and be made the order of the day
for Tuesday next, February 22d, at 1 o'clock.

Senate bill entitled an Act to amend Article 37 of the Code
of Public General Laws, title "Evidence," by adding there-
to certain additional sections, under the sub-title ''Senate
and House of Delegates," giving power to certain officers and
persons in the Senate and House of Delegates of this State,
to administer oaths to witnesses, and to compel the giving
of testimony, and production of evidence in certain cases.

Being upon its second reading,
On motion by Mr. Phelps,

Was ordered to lie over, and be made the order of the day
for Thursday next, February 17th, at 1 o'clock.

Mr. Stevens (by unanimous consent,) from a Joint Select
Committee, appointed to prepare a suitable testimonial to the
