sions.

Mr. Stevens presented the memorial of Jacob Mason, of
Baltimore city, praying that a pension be granted him.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Also,

A similar memorial of Noah Cullison, of Baltimore city.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

On motion by Mr. Suit, it was

Ordered, That the Secretary of the Senate, be authorized
to procure from the State Printer 1,000 copies of the Hon.
Frances P. Phelps' speech on the Extension ef the Basis of
Taxation, for distribution.

On motion by Mr. Suit, it was

Ordered, That it be entered on the .Journal that the Sena-
tor frorn Charles county is absent on account of serious sick-
ness in his family.

On motion by Mr. Steiner, it was

Ordered, That 2,000 copies of the Report of the State
Board of Health, be printed under the supervision of the
Committee on Printing.

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings, to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 7,
of an Act, entitled an Act to add certain additional Sections,
relating to the Superior Court of Baltimore city, to the fourth
Article of the Public Local Laws, regulating the return of
process, and the taking of judgments in said Courts, passed
by the General Assembly of Maryland, at the January Ses-
sion of 1864, chapter 6, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

Also, by Mr. Stevens,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill entitled au Act, supplementary to an Act,
passed at Jannary Session, 1852, entitled an Act to incor-
porate the Santa Clara Mining Association, of Baltimore, au-
thorizing said Association to make and enforce payment of
all calls or assessments upon its capital stock heretofore made
or hereafter to be made.

On motion by Mr. Hepbron,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to in-
troduce a bill to pay D. James Blackiston for services in de-
