Mr. Loane, Chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
reported favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to add a new Section to Article 26,
of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to corporations
so as to provide a more summary remedy against Companies
incorporated by this State, with authority to transport per-
sons or property for hire.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Dodson, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 144, Article 20,
Public Local Laws, title "Talbot county," sub-title "St.
Michael's," and re-enact the same with amendments.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Lambdin, Chairman of a Select Committee reported
favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to refund taxes paid on liquor and
oyster house license to citizens of Dorchester and Caroline
counties, erroneously paid into the Treasury of the State.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Brooke, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported fa-
varably,
A bill entitled an Act to appropiate a sum of money to
pay for paving the bed of the street- bounding on the State
House Circle, and for repairing and improving the pave-
ment aroundthe saaie.
Which was read a first time.
The House then proceeded to the consideration of the un-
finished business of Saturday,
Being the bill entitled an Act to amend Sections 2, H, 14,
15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29,
30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 and 39, of Article 4, of the
Constitution of Maryland.
Said bill being upon a second reading,
The question recurring upon the adoption of the following
amendment submitted by Mr. Constable on Saturday last,
18th inst., viz :
Insert "on second Wednesday of January, 1878,"
Which was adopted.
Mr. Goldsborough submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
"Section 2. And be it further enacted by the authority
aforesaid That the said foregoing Section hereby proposed
as an amendment to the Constitution shall be at the next
