Mr. Dodson presented the petition of Samuel Hambleton,
M. M. Dawson and others, asking a reduction of the rate of
interest, and allowing contracts to be made for use of money.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Dodson presented the petition of J. D. Clark and
others, desiring a reduction of the rate of interest for money,
etc.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Ford submitted the following order :
WHEREAS, The approach of the termination of the session
warns the representatives of the people of Maryland the ne-
cessity of husbanding every moment of time,
Ordered, That hereafter no gentleman shall speak longer
than ten minutes on any .subject before the House, unless
otherwise ordered.
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Rutledge,
Ordered, That the Committee on Printing take such ac-
tion as will procure the prompt publication of the Journal of
this House and the placing of the same on the tables of mem-
bers on the n^orning following each day's session, at or be-
fore the meeting of the same.
On motion of Mr. Browning,
Ordered, That leave be granted Mr. Jamison, an officer of
this House, for a few days, he having been summoned to at-
tend Garrett county Court as a witness.
On motion of Mr. Hinks,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act passed at Jan-
uary session, 1867, chapter 164, entitled an Act to provide for
the payment of costs incurred beiore Justices of the Peace be-
fore appeal shall be heard from their decisions.
On motion of Mr. Baldwin,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to repeal Sections 13 and 15 of Article 98 of
Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled "WM Fowl,"
and to re-enact the same with amendments.
