Mr. Whitelock submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend by striking out "five and one-half," and insert in
lieu thereof the following: "three and one-half."
On motion of Mr. Donaldson,

der of the day,

more Ohio Railroad Company.

and Means, submitted the following
REPORT.
To the Honorable,
The Speaker of the House of Delegates:
The Committee on Ways and Means, to whom was refer-
red the order of Mr. Hoblitzell, in regard to the bill and
resolutions or' Mr. Donaldson, in reference to the question of
taxation of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, respectfully
submit, that the representatives of that enterprise were be-
fore the Committee; that they have heard the arguments
and suggestions as to compromise and settlement of the mat-
ters in dispute between the State and the said Railroad Com-
pany, and from the importance of the question, your Com-
mittee respectfully report, that they find the time given them
by the aforesaid order, not sufficient to afford proper consid-
eration for questions of so much interest to the people of the
State. They, therefore, ask for further time to enable them
to make up their report, and that that time be extended to
March 20th, at 12 o'clock, A. M.

ment submitted by Mr. Whitelock,
