The Secretary of the Senate delivered
The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act, entitled
an Act to incorporate the town of Church Hill, Queen Anne's
county, State of Maryland, Article 17, and Sections 65, 66
and 67, of the Code of Public Local Laws for Queen Anne's
county, and to re-enact the following.
Which was read a first time and referred to Messrs. Neal,
Cockey and Mattingly.
Also,
The House bill entitled an Act to extend the jurisdiction of
Justices of the Peace for St. Mary's and Baltimore counties,
to cases of assault and battery.
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments:"
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Section 1. Strike out all after the enacting clause, and in-
sert the following: "That Justices of the Peace in and for
St. Mary's and Baltimore counties, shall have civil and crim-
inal jurisdiction in all cases of assault and battery in which
