So the motion was lost,
Mr. Scott proposed the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
In line 4, Section 67, strike out the words "unless said"
neglect be remedied."
Which was rejected.
Mr. Waters, of Carroll, proposed the following amend-
ment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Section 67 a, add :
"And be it enacted, That the Supervisor of Warehouses
be required to appoint two discreet persons to act as night
watchmen, one for Tobacco Warehouses Nos. 3, 4 and 5,
and one for Tobacco Warehouses No. 1 and 2; said watch-
man to go on duty at 6 o'clock P. M., and retire therefrom
at 7 o'clock A. M.; the pay of said watchmen to be fifty
dollars per month, to be paid by the several Inspectors, out
of the earnings of their respective warehouses by alternate
months."
Which was rejected,
Mr. Purnell proposed the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED,
Add to Section 68, "but the provisons of Sections 3 and
47, in regard to the salaries of the Inspectors shall continue
in force until the first day of March, 1878, and no longer."
Which was rejected.
The bill was then read a second time as amended, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
On motion of Mr. Brown,
Said bill was made the order of the day for Wednesday,
March 15th, 1876.
On motion of Mr. Loane,
The House at 3.45, took a recess until 8 o'clock.
