State, to appoint such number of commissioners as maybe
deemed advisable, and exact report of such societies, &c.,
to such commissioners.
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore city delega-
tion.
On motion of Mr. Fenton, it was
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that Mr. Al-
baugh is absent on account of important business.
On motion of Mr. Bird, it was
Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that the
absence of Mr. Smith, (Speaker,) is caused by death in his
family.
Also,
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that the ab-
sence of Mr. W. B. Peter, Journal Clerk, and Acting Reading
Clerk, is caused by severe indisposition.
On motion of Mr. Briscoe, it was
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that Mr. Ward
is absent on account of important business.
On motion of Mr. Bird, it was
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that the ab-
sence of M. Y. Kidd, Chief Clerk, is caused by severe ill-
ness, and that he have leave of absence for several days until
sufficiently recovered to resume his duties.
Mr. Lewis called up the order paying Mr. Henry Cruise
for 12 days service in the organization of the House.
