Mr. Boyle presented the petition of John R. Streett, and
other citizens of Harford county, praying that the present
tax system of said county may be done away with.
Which was read and referred to the Harford delegation
Mr. Neal presented the petition of J. V. Knotts, R. H. N.
Roe, and others, asking for such change in the law pertaining
to the Almshouse in Queen Anne's county, as may be deemed
requisite.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Neal, Cockey and
Mattingly.
Mr. Sprigg, presented the petition of 12 physicians and 22
other citizens of Allegany county, against the erection of
slaughter houses near public roads.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Boyle presented the petition of Benjamin Amos and
others, praying that no change be made in present tax system
of Harford county.
Which was read and referred to the Harford delegation.
Mr. Hooper presented the petition of George V. Dell, and
57 other citizens of Baltimore county, asking for a change in
the mode of appointing School Commissioners.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion .
On motion of Mr. Latnotte, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Ruby have leave of absence for a few
days on important business.
On motion of Mr. Neal,
Ordered, That Mr. Speaker appoint one addititional folder
for the service of this House, and that said appointee be re-
quired to assist the pages in the performance of their duties
as far as may be necessary.
On motion of Mr. Scott,
Ordered, That the Assistant Doorkeeper act as Page as
far as may be necessary.
On motion of Mr, Fenton,
WHEREAS, Several members of this House seem to be of the
opinion that the number of subordinate officers are not suffi-
cient for the proper service and attention, required by said
members,
And whereas, It is proper and right that the Souse should
have direct information upon this subject before adopting any
order relative thereto, therefore be it
