Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ed-
ucation.
Mr, Browning presented the petition of Thos. E. Owens
and 117 other citizens of Garrett county, asking the passage
of a law abolishing the charge of commissions exacted by
the agents of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, on
goods received and delivered at second class stations on said
road.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Constable presented a memorial of the Eastern Shore
Railroad Company, praying amendment of its charter and for
authority to adjust its bonded debt with its creditors.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
On motion of Mr. Fenton, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Albaugh, of Baltimore city be excused
from attendance in this House until Monday, because of im-
portant business requiring his attention.
On motion of Mr. Waters, of .Dorchester, it was
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that owing to
unavoidable absence, Mr. Smith, of Dorchester was pre-
vented from recording his vote against the reconsideration of
the vote appropriating one hundred thousand dollars for the
support of colored schools.
On motion of Mr. Vandiver, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Rutledge, of Harford be excused for
three days on account of important business requiring his
attention.
Mr. Briscoe submitted the following order :
Ordered, That when this House adjourns to-morrow, it
adjourns to meet on Monday noxt, at 12 o'clock.
Which was read.

Mr. Vandiver moved to lay the order on the table.
The question recurring upon concurring in the motion,
