Waters, J. W. Cornelius and 332 other citizens of Maryland
opposed to the present contract, convict system in the Mary-
land Penitentiary.

Mr. Sanders presented the petition of George C. Bishop,
Andrew Simpson, John F. Cook and 218 other citizens of
Maryland, opposed to the present contract, convict system of
the Maryland Penitentiary.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Whitelock, presented the petition of James R. Clark
and 21 other citizens of Baltimore city and county, asking
legislation to afford increased facilitation for travel between
the two points.
Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county del-
egation.
Mr. Bird presented the petition of T. McWilliams, Chas.
A. Neale, J. E. Bayly, and others, to abolish Gates on the
Public Roads of Charles county.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Lancaster, Haw-
kins and Turner.

The petition of Wm. E. Hardisty, and 24 other citizens
of Calvert county, for a Prohibitory Law, within two miles
of Smithville.
Which was read and referred to Messrs. Bird, Turner and
Lancaster.
Mr. Hooper presented the petition, of Christian Meelhta,
F. Deeltz, and 35 other citizens of Baltimore county, asking
for the passage of a law, preventing cattle running at large
in Baltimore county.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Judi-
ciary.
Mr. Lancaster presented the petition of Rev. J. M. Trod,
J. R. Paws, P. A. S. Contee, Hanson Bell, and 70 others,
praying for Local Option in Charles county.
Which was read and referred to the Charles delegation.
Mr. Chaisty presented the petition of Cate E. Call, and
570 other ladies of Baltimore, for Local Option.
