The Speaker laid before the House, the following commu-
nication from Hon. Levin Woolford, Comptroller of the
Treasury, together with accompanying Report, in response
to an order of the House.

Annapolis, February 8th, 1876.
Hon. Lewis C. Smith, Speaker of the House of Delegates :
DEAR SIR :—In obedience to an erder of the House of De-
legates, passed 25th January, 1876, I have the honor to
transmit herewith, to your Honorable body, "a detailed
statement of amounts paid, loaned or made over by the State,
to every Institution of learning, incorporated or otherwise,
other than the Free Public Schools, that has received aid
from the State, since the adoption of the Constitution of
1867, and the several acts under authority of which such
sums are paid."

Mr. Naill presented the petition of Andrew Reader and
thirty other citizens of Frederick county, praying for the
