The Speaker laid before the House the petition of Lewis
Repp, Samuel Strete, W. M. Lantz and 25 others, citizens
of Washington county, praying for the enactment of a law
requiring all persons engaged in shipping butter, eggs, poul-
try and veal, (calves,) to pay an annual license to the State.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Also,
The petition of Thos. B. Walls, Wm. H. Knodes, Wm.
Layon, Samuel Baker, John H. Kausler and 30 other citi-
zens of Washington county, praying for the enactment of a
law requiring all persons engaged in shipping butter, eggs,
poultry and veal, (calves,) to pay an annual license to the
State,
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.
Mr. Jones presented the petition of E. J. Hall, Thos. J.
Holland, Dr. A. Riggs and 210 other citizens of Montgom-
ery county, asking an amendment of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, so far as Montgomery county is concerned, pro-
viding that the County Commissioners shall appoint but one
Collector of Taxes for the said county, whose salary shall not
exceed $2,500 per annnm.
Which was read and referred to the Montgomery delega-
tion.
Mr. Briscoe presented the petition of Casper Mohrlern and
38 other citizens of Cecil county, asking the repeal of what
is known as the "Grand Jury Law" for said county.
Which was read and referred to the Cecil delegation.
Mr. Hinks presented the petition of James Pearre, Presi-
dent, and Abdon Carlisle, Luke C. Enson, Geo. Gaither,
Ephraim Stouffer and Sol S. Ecker, Directors of the Liberty
and New Windsor Turnpike Company, praying that their
charter may not be altered or changed, so far as to deprive
them of collecting tolls now authorized.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.
Mr. Whitelock presented the petition of Hamilton Easter
and 55 other citizens, asking the passage of a law to prevent
stock running at large within 15 miles of Baltimore city.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
Mr. Briscoe presented the petition of John Shannon and
43 others, citizens of Cecil county, asking the repeal of what
is known as the "Grand Jury Law" for said county.
Which was read and referred to the Cecil delegation.
