Section 5. And be it enacted, That the General Assembly
hereby reserves to itself the right to amend or repeal this
Act at pleasure,
Which was adopted.
The bill as amended, was then read a second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading. ^
Mr. Constable, Chairman of the Committee on the Judi-
ciary, reported favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 2, Article 37, of
the Code of Public General Laws, title "Evidence," sub-
title "Competency of Witnesses," as amended by the Act of
January Session of 1874, chapter 385, and to amend and re-
enact the same to read as follows:

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills:
A bill entitled an Act to extend the jurisdiction of Justices
of the Peace for Garrett, Montgomery and Calvert counties,
to cases of assault and battery.
Which was read a first time and referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.
Also,
A bill entitled an Act to repeal an Act passed at January
Session, 1874, chapter 436, entitled an Act to repeal chap-
ter 169, of the Acts of 1872, entitled an Act for the better
protection of partridges in Queen Anne's county, and also to
add an additional Section to Article 98, of the Code.
Which was read a first time and referred to Messrs. Neal,
Cockey and Mattingly.
Also returned,
The bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 941, of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "City of Baltimore,"
