The House then proceeded to the consideration of unfi-
nished business.
The Senate bill entitled an Act to create a loan to dis-
charge an indebtedness of the President and Visitors of the
Maryland Hospital, now secured by mortgage of said Hos-
pital and premises, and to provide furniture for the same.
Being upon a third reading,
The question recurring upon the amendment submitted by
Mr Sccott, viz Strike out all of Section after the word
"State," in line 19, and insert "is hereby directed to pay to
the mortgagee, on the warrant of the Comptroller, the pro-
ceeds of the loan aforesaid, in such sums as required by the
terms of the mortgage loan, amount not exceeding the said
sum of one hundred and thirty-five thounand dollars, and
upon the Attorney General giving the Board of Public
Works a written assurance that the property hereinbefore
mentioned is clear of all debts and encumbrances of every
nature, kind and description, and that the entire property
and appurtenances of said Maryland Asylum for the Insane
have been duly and legally conveyed to the State,"
The proposed amendment was adopted, and the bill; as
amended, passed by yeas and nays as follows :
