The Secretary of the Senate returned the bill entitled an
Act to authorize the building of a new Tobacco Warehouse in
the City of Baltimore, and to appropriate a sum of money for
said purpose.
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amend title by adding, "on the site now owned by the
State."
Sec. 3, after the word "Comptroller," insert, "and au-
thority is hereby given to the Supervisor of Warehouses that
if it becomes necessary to have more room for the inspection
of tobacco than is possessed, until the said new Warehouse is
built, to rent some convenient and suitable building until the
said new Warehouse is completed for the purposes of supply-
ing such necessity."
Add to Sec. 3, "and that the cost of said Warehouse shall
in no event exceed the sum hereby appropriated."
Sec. 2, strike out "one or two" and insert "a;" make
"Warehouses" read "Warehouse" wherever it occurs ;
amend, "and provided, that in any contract for building said
Warehouse, the Commission shall require bond and retain
ten per cent, of contracted price till building is completed."
The proposed amendments were severally read and adopt-
ed, and the bill, as amended, passed by yeas and nays as fol-
