Which was read.
The Senate bill entitled an Act to create a loan to dis-
charge an indebtedness of the President and Visitors of the
Maryland Hospital, now secured by mortgage of said Hos-
pital and premises, and to provide furniture for the same,
Being upon a third reading,
Mr. Scott submitted the following amendment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Sec. 1, strike out all of Section after the word "State,"
line 26, and insert "is hereby directed to pay to the mortga-
gee, on the warrant of the Comptroller, the proceeds of the
loan aforesaid, in such sums as required by the terms of the
mortgage, to an amount not exceeding the said sum of one
hundred and thirty-five thousand dollars, and upon the At-
torney General giving the Board of Public Works a written
assurance that the property hereinbefore mentioned is clear
of all debts and encumbrances of every nature, kind and
description, and that the entire property and appurtenances
of said Maryland Asylum for the Insane has been duly and
legally conveyed to the State."
