WEDNESDAY, March 29th, 1876.
The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Ide.
Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. Smith, (Speaker,) Dunbar, Mattinglv, Boyer,
Usilton, Hodges, Robinson, Rullrnan, Turner, Lancaster,
Hawkins, Hooper, Baldwin, Whitelock, Curtis, Given, Fitz-
jarrell, Dodson, Lankford Gunby, Ford, Lambdin, Smith,
of Dorchester, Waters, of Dor., Briscoe, Snowden, Hance,
Gwynn, Cockey, Neal, Purnell, Onley, Riggs, Hinks, Naill,
Koons, Rutledge, Boyle, Vandiver, Culbreth, Goldsborough,
Rusk, Berkemeier, Lewis, McWilllams, Hoblitzell, McGlone,
Coburn, Stewart, McAleese, Gill, Hart, Loane, Chaisty,
Harig, Albaugh, Sanders, Fenton, Scott, Farrow, Ranger,
Jones, Canby, Griffith, Rawlings, Atkinson, Sprigg, brooke,
Brown, Rinehart, Lamotte, Waters, of Car'l, Donaldson,

The Speaker laid before the House a communication from
John F. Wiley, foreman of the Grand Jury for Baltimore,
asking the passage of a law to protect the persons and prop-
erty of our citizens and others from lawless proceedings,
trespassing on railroads, &c.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Mr. Lewis presented the petition of 194 citizens of the
western section of Baltimore city, protesting agaiosc the re-
moval of the Cattle Scales.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpora-
tions.
Mr. Berkemeier presented the petition of 158 property
holders in favor of the Cattle Scales, remonstrating against
the removal of the same.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.
Mr. Rusk presented the petition of 450 butchers of Balti-
more against the incorporation of the Maryland Live Stock
Company.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpora-
tions.
Mr. Stewart presented the petition of the packers and
wholesale provision dealers of Baltimore city, remonstrating
