officers and employees of this House, be paid from and after
the date of their appointment, respectively."
And whereas, Tt is the sense of this House, that this order
is vague and liable to misconstruction.
Therefore ordered, That the present officers of this Hoase,
as reported by the Committee on Organization, be paid from
the beginning of the session, which is in accord with usage—
and all other employees and officers, which may be appoint-
ed, be paid from the time of their appointment, or the time
of the actual employment.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Scott submitted the following order:
Ordered, That the Committee on Militia be, and is hereby
instructed to report a bill to this House which shall so amend
the Militia Law that the maintenance of the military organi-
zations of the State shall not exceed the sum of $5,000 per
annum.
Which was read.
The question recurring upon the adoption of the order,
On motion of Mr. Constable,
The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
order made the order of the day for Thursday next, 27th
instant.
On motion of Mr. Fenton,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to repeal the charters of the Baltimore and
Harford, and the Baltimore and York Turnpike Companies.
On motion of Mr. Lankford,
Leave was granted to the Somerset delegation to introduce a
bill to add new Sections to Article 19, of the Code of Public
Local Laws, relating to Somerset county.
On motion of Mr. Fenton,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill to tax railroad bridges in this State according
to their actual cost, and to repeal all laws inconsistent there-
with.
Also,
eave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
introduce a bill requiring the railroads passing through this
State to place a flagman at each county road crossing, within
the limits of this State.
