1876.] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 1235
Feb. 5th, 1876. "Reducing the price of Gat to $4.00 per
1000 ft. with a discount of 20 per cent, for prompt payment,
making the net cost of Gas $3.20 per 1000 feet," which,
in the opinion of your Committee, is a very high price, tak-
ing into consideration that the Gas Companies of Baltimore,
(which we think is a fair comparison, the cost of material be-
ing about equal in Baltimore and Annapolis,) charge but
$3.00 per 1000 feet, with a deduction of 1 1/2, making the cost
of gas to all consumers $2.75 per 1000 feet, and to as large
consumers as the State, a deduction of one-sixth is allowed,
making the net cost but $2.50 per 1000 ft.
We would further submit that the charges, both to the
State and to the people of Annapolis, are unjust and burden-
some, and that the charter should be amended, so that the
Company should be restricted in its charges ; and your Com-
mittee further report that they would have so amended it bat
from want of time.
