section of this Act shall cause immediate action to be taken
towards opening and constructing a suitable county road or
street from the northernmost terminus of said bridge along
the most direct and practicable route to the city limits, to in-
tersect Russell street extended, said road or street to be
opened and constructed by the said County Commissioners of
Baltimore county, and paid for as other county roads or
streets are opened and paid Cor under the roai or s»reet law
of Baltimore county then in force; provided, however, that
nothing contained in this Act shall prevent the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore, or the State of Maryland, from
condemning said Light street bridge as a nuisance, at any time
hereafter, whenever the same may become such, or whenever
it may to any serious extent interfere with free navigation to
and from Spring Garden, or middle river branch of the Pa-
tapsco river; but beiore the removal thereof, in pursuance of
such condemnation, the Mayor aud City Council of Baltimore,
and the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county,
shall provide for the continuance of free and safe travel be-
tween Baltimore city and Anne Arundel county aforesaid,
either by establishing a free, permanent and suitable ferry
from Brooklyn to Baltimore city, or by building the budge
and roads thereto as provided in Sections 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of
this Act.
Sec. 7. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage."
The proposed amendments were adopted and the bill, as
amended, read a second time.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills :
A bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 3 of Article 11
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Attorneys in
Fact," as amended, by the Act of Assembly, passed at the
January Session, 1872, chapter 91, and re-enact the same
with amendment.
Which was read a first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on the Judiciary.
Also,
A bill entitled an Act to refund to William Hepbron, of
Kent county, late Collector of Taxes in the Third District of
said county, the sum of seventy-five dollars and thirty-seven
cents erroneously paid by him into the State Treasury.
Which was read a first time and referred to the Committed
pn Claims.
Also,
A bill entitled an Act to repeal Section 3 of Article 3,7
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Evidence,"
and to enact in lien thereof the following.
