1120 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 23,
Mr. Hoblitzell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judi-
ciary, reported favorably,
A bill entitled an Act to declare the Monday, immediately
preceding, Tuesday the fourth of July, 1876, a legal holiday.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Hinks submitted the following message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
March 23rd, 1876.
Gentlemen of the Senate:
We respectfully request your Honorable Body to return to
this House Senate bill providing for creation of a new Elec-
tion District in Freederick county, to he known as Lewistown
District or Election District No. 19.

Chief Clerk.
Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.
On motion of Mr. Loane,
At 6.30 P. M., the House took a recess untill 8 o'clock
this P. M.
NIGHT SESSION.
THURSDAY, March 23, 1876.
The House met at 8 o'clock P. M.

Sanders, Fenton, Scott, Farrow, Ranger, Jones, Canby,
Griffith, Rawlings, Atkinson, Sprigg, Brooke, Brown, Rine-
hart, Waters, of Carroll, Dpnaldson, Dashiell Gordy, Bar-
nard, Broening—71.
On motion of Mr. Neal, it was
Ordered, That Mr, Hodges be excused from further at-
tendance on the House for the day.
