Maryland (1935 Supplement), title "Department of Law",
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments to read as follows:

4. The Attorney General shall receive a salary of five thou-
sand dollars (15, 000) per annum during the term of the
present incumbent at the time of the passage of this Act, but
beginning with the term of the next Attorney General on De-
cember 20th, 1938, and thereafter he shall receive a salary of
eight thousand dollars ($8, 000). He is authorized to ap-
point five assistants, one of whom he shall designate and be
known as Deputy Attorney General, one of whom shall be
known as Special Assistant Attorney for the State Roads
Commission, two of whom shall be known as Assistant Attor-
ney General, and the other of whom shall be known as Special
Attorney for the State Accident Fund. The Deputy Attor-
ney General, the Special Assistant Attorney General and the
Special Attorney for the State Accident Fund shall be prac-
ticing lawyers of the State of Maryland in good standing, each
of whom shall hold his respective office during the pleasure
of the Attorney General. The Deputy Attorney General shall
receive an annual salary of six thousand dollars ($6, 000); the
Special Assistant Attorney General for the State Roads Com-
mission shall receive an annual salary of five thousand dollars
($5, 000) and the Assistant Attorneys General shall each re-
ceive an annual salary of fifty-five hundred dollars ($5, 500);
and the Special Attorney for the State Accident Fund shall
receive an annual salary of four thousand dollars ($4, 000). The
increased salaries for the Deputy Attorney General and the
Assistants, as provided for in the Budget shall be payable on
and after October 1, 1937. All of the salaries above provided
shall be payable monthly. The salary of the Special Assistant
Attorney General for the State Roads Commission shall be paid
by the State Roads Commission and the salary of the Special
Attorney for the State Accident Fund shall be paid by the State
Accident Fund, as provided by the Budget Bill. The Dep-
uty Attorney General and the Assistant Attorneys General
shall each perform such duties as the Attorney General is
hereby authorized to assign to them and each of them the per-
formance, subject to Ms direction and control, of any of the
duties required of him by law. The Special Assistant Attor-
ney General for the State Roads Commission and the Special
Attorney for the State Accident Fund shall perform such
duties for the State Roads Commission and the State Accident
Fund, respectively, as the Attorney General may assign to
them, and each shall be required to perform such duties sub-
ject at all times to the direction and control of the Attorney
General.
