have been appointed by the Sheriff and serve as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 300.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
602, 621, 622 and 650 of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County",
sub-title "Laurel", as the same were enacted by Chapter 431
of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1933, increasing the
number of regular meetings of the City Council of Laurel to
two (2) each month and providing for additional compensa-
tion to the Mayor, the Clerk to the City Council and the
City Solicitor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 602, 621, 622 and 650 of Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's
County", sub-title "Laurel", as said Sections were enacted by
Chapter 431 of the Acts of 1933, be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as
follows:

602. The Mayor of said town shall be a person of known
integrity, experience and sound judgment, not less than thirty
years of age, not less than ten years a citizen of the United
States, and a resident of the said town for two years next
preceding his election, who has been assessed upon the assess-
ment books of said town for the year prior to his election for
not less than three hundred dollars, and who has paid prior
to his election the taxes due thereon for said year. The Mayor
shall hold office for two years from the fourth Monday in
April of the year of his election and until the qualification of
his successor. The salary of the Mayor shall be three hundred
(1300. 00) dollars per annum, payable semi-annually.

621. The Mayor shall biennially, on the fourth Monday in
April, accounting from the fourth Monday in April, 1934, and
also on the fourth Monday in April, 1934, nominate one person
as Clerk to the City Council, to be confirmed by the City
Council; who shall perform such duties as the Mayor and City
