($5. 00) per day for each day served, and their salaries shall
be audited and paid in the same manner as prescribed for
salaries and other expenses by Section 3 of Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland. The transcribing shall be done
by the said clerks, with the assistance of the permanent board
of registry, said clerks, both to be present at the same time,
and the new binders, after being transcribed, shall correspond
in all respects.

Section 7. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and
they are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 48.

AN ACT to declare A. B. Leslie Exshaw to be the adopted son
of James R. Manning and Miriam S. D. Manning, his wife.

WHEREAS, Sections 74, 74A, 75, 76 and 77 of Article 16 of
the Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland
provide only for the adoption of infants, and there is no gen-
eral law in the State of Maryland providing for the adoption
of adults; and

WHEREAS, the said A. B. Leslie Exshaw is an adult, and for
approximately the past ten years has been raised as a mem-
ber of the household of James R. Manning and Miriam S. D.
Manning and as if he were their son; and"

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the said James R. Manning and
the said Miriam S. D. Manning, his wife, and of the said A. B.
Leslie Exshaw, all of the City of Baltimore, State of Mary-
land, to have the said A. B. Leslie Exshaw declared to be the
adopted son of the said James R. Manning and Miriam S. D.
Manning.

SECTION I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That A. B. Leslie Exshaw, of Baltimore City, be and he
is hereby declared to be the adopted son of the said James R.
Manning and Miriam S. D. Manning, wife of the said James
R. Manning, and as such adopted son is entitled to all the
rights of inheritance and distribution as to the estate of the
