508 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 270

389C. The sheriff of Wicomico County, chief deputy and all
other deputies are hereby authorized, directed and required
to serve all process, both civil and criminal, issuing out of the
People's Court for said Wicomico County.

390. All fees and charges in civil and criminal cases to
which the sheriff may now be entitled by law, shall hereafter
be collected for and paid to the County Commissioners for
said Wicomico County in the following manner: The Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Wicomico County shall in all criminal
cases and in all civil cases, both at law and in equity, instituted
in said Circuit Court, collect all costs taxable in said cases
for the benefit of the said sheriff and pay over the same to the
County Commissioners of Wicomico County, together with an
itemized statement thereof, quarterly, on January 1st, April
1st, July 1st and October 1st in each and every year; and the
Clerk of the People's Court for Wicomico County shall, in all
cases, civil and criminal, instituted in said Court, collect the
fees and costs taxable for the benefit of the Sheriff and pay
over the same. to the County Commissioners of Wicomico
County at the end of each month, together with an itemized
statement thereof.

390A. At the time of rendering his monthly account for
expenses the sheriff shall make to the County Commissioners
a full and detailed report of any and all fees-collected by him
in the discharge of his official duties for the preceding month,
the said report to be under oath of the sheriff and to be accom-
panied by the sheriff's check for the amount thereof.

390B. The sheriff of Wicomico County shall be allowed,
and the County Commissioners of Wicomico County shall be
required to pay the sum of forty cents ($0. 40) per day for
boarding and keeping each prisoner committed to his custody,
and it shall be the duty of the sheriff to keep a book at the
county jail in which he shall keep a correct and full statement
or schedule of all prisoners committed to his custody, showing
by what authority, the offense charged, the time when received
and the time of discharge, which statement or schedule, to-
gether with all books, papers and commitments kept by him
pertaining to prisoners in the jail shall at all times be open
to the inspection of the County Commissioners, State's Attor-
ney and Grand Jury, and should the sheriff neglect or refuse
to keep said book or comply with any of the duties which
he is hereby required to perform, he shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor and subject to indictment, and upon conviction
thereof he shall be fined a sum not exceeding One Hundred
Dollars ($100. 00).
