ignate. The Commission shall appoint, discharge at pleasure,
and fix the compensation of a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Chief
Engineer, and such engineering, legal, clerical and other force
and help as, from time to time, in its judgment may be deemed
necessary to carry out the provisions of this Act. Said Com-
mission, for the convenience of the citizens of said district may
establish an office at a convenient place in the District of
Columbia and all acts, regulations or orders passed in the
District of Columbia by said Commission shall have the same
force and effect as if passed by said Commission when sitting
in the Sanitary District; and all acts, orders and regulations
heretofore passed by said Commission while sitting in the Dis-
trict of Columbia are hereby ratified and confirmed and are to
be given the same force and effect as if passed in the State of
Maryland. Said Commission shall annually publish in at least
one newspaper in Montgomery County, and one in Prince
George's County a full and true account of its receipts, ex-
penses and expenditures. Prior to said publication said ac-
counts shall be fully audited by the State Auditor of the
State of Maryland, who shall be paid such compensation by the
Commission as is paid the Auditor for auditing other State
accounts; provided, however, said Commission may in addi-
tion to said State audit employ a certified public accountant
to audit its books and accounts. Said Commission shall al-
ways keep available and open to public inspection during
business hours, at its principal office, a detailed audit and fi-
nancial statement of its accounts.
Said Commission is authorized to formulate and adopt a
pension or retirement plan for its employees and to contribute
so much thereto as it may deem equitable, such contribution
to be pro rated among the various Departments of the Com-
mission as the total annual receipts of these Departments bear
to the contribution.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
This bill became a law on March 19, 1937, without the ap-
proval of the Governor, in accordance with the provisions of
Article 2, Section 17 of the State Constitution.
