707. Whenever any employee of the Board of Welfare or
of any institution under the control or management of the
Board of Welfare shall have given meritorious service as such
employee for a period of twenty years, of which the last ten
years shall have been continuous, or who shall reach the age
of sixty-four years, such employee shall be forthwith retired
by the Board of Welfare whether or not the employee in ques-
tion files an application for retirement, but the Board of Wel-
fare may, in its discretion, delay such retirement for such
time as it may deem proper, and in all retirements made under
the provisions of this section the employee in question shall
receive the same rate of pay as provided in Section 706 hereof.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1937.

CHAPTER 220.
AN ACT to add four new sections to Article 2A of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1924 Edition), title "Agriculture",
to be under sub-title "Soil Conservation", said new sections
to be known as Sections 15, 16, 17 and 18, and to follow
immediately after Section 14 of said Article, to provide for
the conservation, protection, improvement and profitable use
of agriculture land resources of the State of Maryland and
for cooperation with the governments and agencies of other
States and of the United States pursuant to the provisions
of Section 7 of an Act of the Congress of the United States
known as "Soil Conservation and Domestic Allotment Act",
Public No. 46, approved April 27, 1935, as amended by Pub-
lic No. 461, approved February 29, 1936.
WHEREAS, there has been enacted by the Senate and House
of Representatives of the United States of America in Con-
gress assembled an Act known as "Soil Conservation and Do-
mestic Allotment Act" (Public No. 46, 74th Congress, ap-
proved by the President of the United States April 27, 1935,
as amended by Public 461, 741 h Congress, approved February
29, 1936); and
WHEREAS, the purposes and objectives of Section 7 of said
Act are closely allied with the agricultural policies of the
State of Maryland administered through the Agricultural Ex-
periment Station and the Agricultural Extension Service of the
