uary 1, 1938, and on or before that date and each four years
thereafter, the said County Commissioners shall appoint a
member of the Anne Arundel County Police Department as
Chief thereof for a period of four years beginning January 1,
1938. The said Chief of Police shall have control and supervi-
sion over the other members of said Police Department and
shall assign the members thereof to such duties and to such
hours as he may deem necessary, and shall make such rules
and regulations for the proper government and discipline of
the members of said Police Department and for the operation
of said Department as he may deem best to promote the effi-
ciency of said Department, subject, however, to the approval,
revisionary power, and general supervision and control of the
County Commissioners. A copy of such rules and regulations
shall be furnished to each officer, and whenever any addition
or change is made in such rules and regulations a copy of such
addition or change shall be provided for each officer and each
officer shall maintain a complete set of said rules and regula-
tions together with all additions and changes thereto, and
shall familiarize himself therewith. The salary of the said
Chief of Police shall be Eighteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 800. 00)
per annum, payable in equal monthly instalments, and no
other fee, or fees or compensation whatsoever shall be paid to
said Chief of Police.

The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall
designate two members of the Anne Arundel County Police
Department as sergeants at a salary of Sixteen Hundred and
Twenty Dollars ($1, 620. 00) per annum each, payable in equal
monthly instalments, and no other fees or compensation what-
soever, shall be paid unto said sergeants of the Anne Arundel
County Police Department.

406BB. The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to
establish a Bureau of Identification, which shall be under the
direct control and supervision of a police officer of said Police
Department appointed by the County Commissioners. The
County Commissioners shall pay said police officer a salary of
Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1, 500) per annum and shall pro-
vide for the incidental expenses for supplies necessary for the
proper operation of said Bureau. The said police officer shall
be under the direct supervision and control of the County
Chief of Police, and shall cooperate with the police officers
and Sheriff of the County and the police officers of the Ci1y
of Annapolis, in the investigation of all criminal matters.

406C. The County Commissioners shall equip and arm
said Anne Arundel County Police Department. It shall
be the duty of the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County to remove, dismiss, or discharge any
