CHAPTER 10.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections 460
and 464 of Article 6 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Caroline County", sub-title "Preston",
to make sewer and/or water charges or rents a lien on the
real estate connected with sewer or on which water is used.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 460 and 464 of Article 6 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Caroline
County", sub-title "Preston", be and the same are hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as
follows:

460. The Commissioners of Preston shall charge all persons
using said sewers as follows: On all private dwellings, the
sum of four dollars per year; on all public buildings, a sum
to be fixed by the Commissioners ef Preston according to the
amount of usage by the persons in said building, but not to
exceed the sum of ten dollars per year. And all such charges
shall be liens on the real estate having such sewer connections
for which such charge is made from the time such charge be-
comes due and payable.

464. The Commissioners of Preston shall have full power
and authority and are hereby authorized and empowered to
pass all ordinances necessary for the proper regulation, man
agement, protection and examination of the water works and
water supply of said municipal corporation and of all service
and distribution pipes and hydrants; to install meters for the
measurement of water supplied from said water works and
to fix and establish rates for the use of water and for collect-
ing and enforcing payment of said water rents and charges;
but flat rates may be established. And all such water rents
and charges shall be liens on the real estate on which the
water is used and for which such rent or charge is made from
the time such rent or charge becomes due and payable.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on June 1, 1937.
