or of any county of the State for an appeal from and review of
the action and decision of the judges of election in counting
the ballots and for a recanvass and recount of the ballots cast
in any or all of the precincts of said county or city or ward or
legislative district or political division therein or if said candi-
date was running for a State office or for Congress or for
judge he may petition for said recount in two or more counties
or legislative districts or wards or precincts of Baltimore City
simultaneously.

SEC. 2. And 6e it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1947.

CHAPTER 60.
(House Bill 5)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 21 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Conveyancing",
sub-title "Conveyances in General", said new section to be
known as Section 6B, and to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 6A of said Article, further relating to the acknowledg-
ment of instruments, the attestation of documents, the ad-
ministration of oaths and affirmation, and other notarial acts
before commissioned officers of the United States.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted lay the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is added to Article 21 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Con-
veyancing", sub-title "Conveyances in General", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 6B, to follow immediately after
Section 6A of said Article, and to read as follows:

6B. (a) In addition to the acknowledgment of instruments
and the performance of other notarial acts in the manner and
form and as otherwise authorized by law, instruments may be
acknowledged, documents attested, oaths and affirmations ad-
ministered, depositions and affidavits executed, and other
notarial acts performed, before or by any commissioned officer
in active service of the armed forces of the United States with
the rank of Second Lieutenant or higher in the army or marine
corps, or with the rank of Ensign or higher in the navy or
coast guard, or with equivalent rank in any other component
part of the armed forces of the United States, by any person
