CHAPTER 402.
(House Bill 586)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 93
of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1943
Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial
Magistrate System", as enacted by Chapter 777 of the Acts
of 1945, to provide for the appointment of additional Jus-
tices of the Peace at large in Prince George's County Mary-
land.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 93 of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace",
sub-title "Trial Magistrate System", as enacted by Chapter
777 of the Acts of 1945, be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

93. (Appointment.) The Governor, by and with the advice
and consent of the Senate, shall appoint for each county in
the State one or more Justices of the Peace to be known as
"Committing Magistrates", and such number of justices of the
peace at large in the several counties, to be designated "Trial
Magistrates", as is hereinafter specified in Section 100; and
in Prince George's County, in addition to the aforegoing,
seven Justices of the Peace at large, who shall be Committing
Magistrates and shall have all the powers and jurisdiction in
the whole of said County, vested by law in Justices of the
Peace other than Trial Magistrates and substitute Trial
Magistrates.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety, and having
been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths
of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of the
General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
